Soften the mood and indulge in comfort food while surrounded by warmth and relaxation.

Most often a rug is used as decoration, but this textile element can also have a function to visually delineate areas. The most obvious example is certainly the carpet under the dining table. To some this position may seem delicate, because there is always the possibility of some accident while eating, and cleaning a rug can be challenging. However, matching the table and chairs allows this area of the home to be perfectly complemented by adding pattern or completing a colour palette.

There is an alternative for those who fear the delicacy of fabrics: it is possible to opt for ‘carpets’ with other materials, for example by creating islands of stoneware to contrast with the parquet, or simply by choosing decorated tiles from a collection of wall coverings in the same colour to be applied to the rest of the room. A valid alternative from a practical and decorative point of view, but one that loses the pleasure of adding a different material sensation. From this point of view one may in fact also think of creating a combination with the fabric of the upholstered chairs.

On the shape to choose, there are two possible ways: the first is to seek an agreement with the shape of the table to create the even stronger feeling of an independent space, so rectangular with rectangular and circular for tables with this shape. The other, more eclectic solution involves a contrasting shape between these two elements, to be chosen if the dining room already has its own space defined by walls.

The theme of colour must be confronted above all with the combination of carpet and floor because this is the contrast that must emerge to give that feeling of space defined by the fabric. The relationship with chairs and table, on the other hand, can be played with a combination of classic and modern lines, for example by focusing on the traditional patterns of a kilim and the essential, contemporary lines of the furniture.

Your dining room may be beautiful, but what about the floor? Don’t let messy spills or scratches ruin your space. Invest in a durable and stylish dining rug to protect your floors and add warmth to your meals!
