Petroleum green color adds depth, sophistication, and tranquility to any space. From walls to accessories, it’s time to embrace this bold yet calming hue in your decorating game.

Unleash the hidden charm of your home with petroleum green decor. This trending color adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any room. From accent walls to furniture, here’s some ideas to incorporate it into your space! Don’t be afraid to go green!

A little bit green but also a little bit blue, petrol green is an intense, pigmented and well-balanced shade that is part of the palettes inspired by vegetation and sea tones; it easily lends itself to unexpected colour combinations, meeting different languages and furnishing styles. Especially declined on different materials: from velvet to leather, it contributes to embellish spaces with a vintage taste or more essential and contemporary.

Petrol green is a shade that is easy to match with both cold and warm colours. An easy and reassuring combination is with shades of grey and gold or tone-on-tone to create an effect of exclusivity and luxury.

For a more vibrant accent, contrasting with petroleum green coloured furniture or walls, a palette of pastel colours or even more intense shades is recommended: shell pink, apricot, wisteria, mint green, air force blue, burgundy.

In general, colourists recommend not using more than two or three colours for the most important elements in the room. This sounds like a feat, but just follow the simple rule of 60/30/10 + N. Sixty per cent will be taken up by one or two main colours, applied to walls, floors and voluminous furnishings such as, for example, the sofa. Thirty per cent includes the possibility of choosing another colour similar to the dominants, perhaps for curtains and carpets. Finally, 10 per cent concerns accessories, such as cushions: in this case it is possible to play with one to two contrasting colours. Finally the ‘N’ variable, that unexpected detail that makes the colour composition personal. The choice is yours.

For those who appreciate this shade and would like to include it in their living room but do not have plans to upholster or change the sofa, or do not feel like daring with such an intense colour, a good alternative is to accessorize the sofa with petrol green cushions.

Green light to different formats and fabrics, from the most textured and folk-like linen, to the precious reflections of velvet, up to botanical or geometric patterns printed on cotton canvas that pick up on this shade. The perfect backdrop? A contrasting terracotta pink sofa, a warm yellow ochre or the timeless grey sofa. Very chic is the total look option: a petroleum green sofa with cushions in the same tone are a guarantee of rigour and elegance, without too much excess.
